- Q. How much for a logo / website?
-
A. Imagine walking up to a car dealer and asking, “So how much for a car?” Chances are you’re not going
to get an exact answer. Good design is much like building a performance vehicle. For example, you need
to know who will be driving (your audience). Your personality needs to be aligned to the body style
(design). We need to find out what you’ll be racing it against (your competitors). Last we need to understand
your performance requirements (development). We have to gauge all efforts to be sure that you get the
best performance for price and return on investment. For these reasons, we only bid on projects that
appeal to us and we don’t bid until we’ve had a chance to meet in person or over the phone.
- Q. How does your creative process work?
-
A. Here is the basic design process for any project whether it be web or identity.
- Research. Research your company, your industry, and your competitors.
- Analyze / Brainstorm. Utilize information learned from research to develop direction. This is
where a lot of the visual style and layout ideas are formulated. (Aspects of this process also occur
during the last and the next phase.)
- Preliminary Comps / Wireframes. Begin to structure and organize information. We can also begin
to determine what paths we want to lead the user down, potential crisis points and opportunities for
creative innovation.
- Initial Comps. This step means nothing without the above steps and the above steps mean nothing
if this one doesn’t meet your expectations.
- Revise. After receiving your feedback we begin altering our initial comps. This part of the process
is hard to quantify as the comps tend to evolve at very different paces but it isn’t uncommon for us
to nail it with one of the first comps.
- Deliver. Graphics and code are pushed live, zipped up, or shipped off on DVD.
- Q. What is the turn around time?
-
A. Naturally this varies with every project. We can define a clear timeline once we have spoken to you
and gathered basic requirements.
- Q. How does payment work?
-
A. We require 1/3 of the project quote to be paid up-front for any small to medium-sized projects. The
rest will be paid upon completion before we hand over final deliverables. Larger projects will be split
up into payments upon completion of phases. Depending on the size of the project, we may also offer
optional monthly installments.
- Q. Can you make a design for free if I, in return, credit you in the footer of my site?
-
A. If you were a car salesman we would reply, “Can you give us a car and we’ll put a bumper sticker
on it that says you sold it to us?”
